The Cleveland Tiger Student Pledge

I will act in such a
way that I will be
proud of myself,
and others will be
proud of me, too.

I came to learn,

Cleveland's Rules for Success
taken from The Essential 55 by Ron Clark

Rule #1 : When responding to any adult, you must answer by saying "Yes ma'am" or No sir."  Just nodding your head or saying any other form of yes or no is not acceptable.

Rule #3:  If someone in the class wins a game or does something well, we will congratulate that person.

Rule #5: If you win or do well at something do not brag.  If you lose, do not show anger.  Instead, say something like, "I really enjoyed the competition, and I look forawrd to playing you again," or "Good game," or don't say anything at all.  To show anger or sarcasm shows weakness.

Rule #16: Homework will be turned in each day for each subject by every student with no exceptions.

Rule #19:  When homework is assigned, there is to be no moaning or complaining.  This will result in a doubled assignment.

Rule # 20 : Substitute teachers will be shown the same respect as regular teachers and the same rules will be followed.

Rule #38: When we are on a field trip, there will be no talking as we enter a building.  We will enter the building so quietly that no one will even notice we are there.

Cleveland Elementary School...where every student is a scholar!

Cleveland Elementary School has been newly identified as a school in School Improvement under the No Child Left Behind federal legislation. Because of the NCLB federal legislation, school officials are required to notify parents that Cleveland will be in School Improvement for the 2007-2008 school year and must offer parents the option of transferring their child to a school that is not in School Improvement for the 2007-2008 school term.  See the attached letter and form for more information.

Choice Letter for Cleveland.doc

From the Principal

Greetings,

The 2007 2008 school year at Cleveland Elementary has been filled with excitement and accomplishment! Our academic focus has centered on improving reading on all grade levels as well as emphasizing the study of science. We are most appreciative of the community support as shown by the following partnerships:  Spartanburg Regional healthcare System, Wofford College, USC Upstate, Converse College, North Greenville Community College.

Our teachers are highly qualified and are dedicated to providing a world-class education to every student.  Our belief that "Every student is a scholar" drives our instructional program which is designed to help each student develop to his/her fullest potential. We further believe that with the continued support from our parents and families our students will receive a first-class education within a nurturing, disciplined, and culturally enriching learning environment.

Finally, we are also appreciative of the support from our Superintendent and Board of Trustees as we continue to put new initiatives in place that foster student achievement and school climate.

We further extend an invitation to the Spartanburg Community to visit our classrooms, attend special events, and promote education in Spartanburg School District Seven.
